The Masters tournament info

The most prestigious invitational tournament of the snooker dating back to 1975. The tournament is only second to the World Championship in longevity and is still considered in Triple Crown alongside the World Championship and UK Championship.

The event is held every year since its inception and is considered one of the most prominent tournaments in snooker circuit.

Since 2012, the event is held at Alexandra Palace in London, England. In 2016, the trophy was renamed to honor Paul Hunter who died in the age of 27 in 2006. The total prize fund of the tournament is £600,000.

The Masters follows almost the same format since its beginning. World's top-ranked players are invited to contest for the coveted trophy and take home the winner's share. The reigning champion of The Masters is seeded 1 followed by the World Champion who is seeded 2 and the rest are allocated on the basis of World Rankings.

The professionals compete in the round of 16 and 8 of them go to the next round which is quarters. The winners grab the places in semi-finals.

These games are played over the best of 11 frames. The final showdown is played over the best of 19 frames.
