The English Open is a professional ranking tournament that was announced in 2015 and started in 2016. It became a new part of Home Nations Series which already included the Scottish Open, Welsh Open, and Northern Ireland Open.

The inaugural edition of the tournament took place in Manchester, England. To honor the legend of Steve Davis, the winner of this tournament is awarded a trophy named after him. The current venue of the English Open is Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes, England.

The matches of quarter-finals are played over the best of 9 frames.

In semi-finals, the matches are of best of 11 frames and the final is played over best of 19 frames.

Liang Wenbo of China won the first edition of the event defeating Judd Trump.

The edition of 2017 was won by Ronnie O'Sullivan outclassing his opponent Kyren Wilson by a score of 9-2.

In 2018. champion is Stuart Bingham who defeated Mark Davis by a final score of 9-7.

In 2019. the winner was Mark Selby with an outstanding 9-1 victory over David Gilbert at the final.

Last year winner was Judd Trump who beat Neil Robertson 9–8 in the final. He was 4–7 down to win his 18th ranking title (equaling Neil Robertson and Mark Selby) and become the first player to win three Home Nations titles.
